Cainito wood (Chrysophyllum cainito) comes from the Star Apple tree, native to the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of South America. This hardwood is prized for its rich brown color and fine grain, often featuring darker streaks or mottling that adds to its visual appeal.

Cainito wood is moderately dense and exhibits good workability, making it suitable for a variety of woodworking projects. Its warm, reddish-brown hue and attractive figuring make it popular for furniture, cabinetry, and decorative veneers.

Specimens of this wood attacked by certain species of fungi are particularly valuable. They create very impressive patterns in the grain. However, such wood is very weak mechanically and requires stabilization.
